DEEP EUTECTIC MATERIALS

Deep eutectic solvents (DES) are low melting point mixed solvents made from two or more substances in a certain ratio, with a melting point significantly lower than the melting point of each individual component.

Compared with traditional organic solvents, DES are widely available, low cost, easy to prepare, low toxicity and biodegradable, and have been widely used as a new green reaction medium in extraction and separation, industrial catalysis, water treatment, drug delivery and energy.Deep eutectic solvents based on metal salts often have higher metal ion migration numbers and can be used as electrolytes in batteries; these DESs are also known as deep eutectic electrolytes.
